Postdoctoral/Research Associate position in epidemiology / public health (f/m/d)

The Department of Social Epidemiology at the Institute of Public Health and Nursing
Research at the University of Bremen, Germany, is offering a

Postdoctoral/Research Associate position in epidemiology / public health (f/m/d)
as soon as possible and limited until 31 December 2023, starting from 1 January, 2020. Salary is according to the German federal employee scale TVL-13 (100%).

The position is placed in the EU-funded, international and interdisciplinary project EQUALLIFE
(Early environmental quality and life-course mental health effects) at the interface
between public health, epidemiology, statistics, data science, social sciences and
psychology. The project will develop and test analysis strategies for complex exposure
patterns and their impact on children’s mental health and development. A combination of
birth-cohort data with new sources of data will be used to assess environmental physical and
social exposures. Partners from 11 different European countries will cooperate in the project
and will built a dynamic team of interdisciplinary researchers.
The Department of Social Epidemiology is responsible for the work package “Social
Exposome” of the project and is involved in further work packages.

Work content:

  • Coordination and implementation of the work package “Social Exposome” within the project
  • Conceptual work in the development of socioeconomic und sociodemographic indicators to describe the social exposome
  • Statistical analysis of epidemiological data
  • Health equity impact analysis of selected policies
  • Writing scientific publications


Qualifications:

  • Excellent PhD thesis or dissertation in public health, epidemiology, or a related field (also nearly finished dissertations taken into consideration)
  • Good knowledge of SAS or R
  • Proven methodological skills in advanced statistical data analysis procedures
  • Experiences in publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Very good command of English
  • Excellent team and coordination skills
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and new research approaches to reduce social inequalities in environmental health
