Department of Health Care Management
The Department of Health Care Management investigates the question of how sustainable innovation can be promoted in health care and beyond.
In our theoretical research, current projects assess the various research programmes of economics from a theory of science and ethics perspective. We are investigating, for example, what insights can be gained from this plurality for the transition to a CO2-neutral health care system. In our empirical research, we apply methods of technology assessment in the health sector. Among other things, we are currently investigating how model-based health economic evaluations can be supplemented with further sustainability aspects such as CO2 emissions from life cycle analyses.
In our teaching, we impart business management and economic content and competences, especially for the Public Health degree programmes of the University of Bremen’s Faculty 11. In the Bachelor's programme, this includes basic courses on the topics of "Health Care Management" and "Climate Change Mitigation from the Perspective of Positive and Normative Economics". In the Master's programme, we offer the praxis-oriented seminar "Health, Social, and Eco- Entrepreneurship". At the same time, we use the above-mentioned topics to deepen methodological knowledge, for example in seminars on the methods of conducting and writing systematic reviews.
